Timeline of Aqua Charming!

year -2 — Aqua (11) meets Donna Troy (12) for the first time. The two become close friends and visit each other on their respective home islands.

Meanwhile, Dick Grayson’s (11) parents die and he is left with his Aunt Harriet (53) as his only surviving family member. He is adopted by Bruce Wayne (27).

year -1 — Aqua (12) starts “dating” Johnny Alto (12).

Dick Grayson (12) becomes Robin and meets Donna Troy (13).

year 0 — Aqua (13) and Johnny (13) sneak into the woods at night where Johnny gets turned into a vampire and aged to a 20 year old man. Aqua breaks up with him and he is thrown in prison after terrorizing Brooklinia and Aqua.

Dick Grayson (13) becomes best friends with Donna Troy (14) and Wally West (13).

year 1 — Aqua (14) travels to Gotham where she stays with Bruce Wayne (30), Harriet Cooper (56), Alfred Pennyworth (60), and Dick Grayson (14). She becomes Blue Comet the same year.

Later in the year, she has her first awakening of new powers. She goes back to Brooklinia after her parents catch the culprit trying to murder them. Before leaving, Dick Grayson kisses her on the cheek. The two exchange identities and promise to stay in touch.

year 2 — Aqua (15) returns to Gotham to ask for Dick’s (15) help in finding a friend of her’s named Garth (14). Dick recruits Wally (15) and Aqua recruits Donna (15) to help find him. Along the way, they meet Speedy (14) who helps their search.

When they find Garth, the group of six fight Orm (his captor). They would have been killed if Aqua didn’t have her second awakening while saving Dick Grayson, unlocking a new set of powers. They realize how well they work together, and Donna suggests they call themselves the Teen Titans.

Dick Grayson invites Aqua Charming to his school’s spring cotillion and the two exchange their first kiss.

year 3 — Aqua (16) and Dick (16) become an official couple. The Teen Titans move into Titans Tower and recruit more members. They go on many adventures together, and recruit more members.

Dick Grayson starts to think he should strike out as his own hero. Bruce Wayne and Silver St. Cloud have a son named Arian.

year 4 — Bruce Wayne (34) adopts Jason Todd (13). He becomes the new Robin. Dick Grayson (17) becomes Nightwing.

Bruce Wayne marries Silver St. Cloud (33). Silver is murdered at the alter.

Aqua Charming (17) takes the Titans to Brooklinia where they all witness the murder of her parents. Overcome with grief, Aqua unlocks her third set of powers.

year 5 — Dick Grayson (18) proposes to Aqua Charming (18). The two become engaged and take a leave of absence from the Team, leaving Wonder Girl (19) in charge.

Jason Todd (14) is murdered by the Joker, but is brought back to life rather quickly by his girlfriend Macy Cobblepot (13), who took him to Ra’s al Ghul. In exchange, the two work for him in the League of Shadows.

year 6 — Aqua Charming (19) and Dick Grayson (19) are married. Aqua gets pregnant during their honeymoon. Aqua is crowned Queen of Brooklinia the same year.

year 7 — Aqua Charming (20) gives birth to Richard John “Rickey” Grayson II on Dick Grayson’s (21) birthday. Rickey is born as a stillborn. Overcome with grief, Dick brings his son to the Lazarus Pit in Gotham where he finds Jason Todd (15), alive. Rickey is brought back with a white streak in his hair.

Tim Drake (13) becomes Robin. Bruce Wayne (37) has a relationship with Talia al Ghul (35) before breaking it off.

year 8 — Aqua Grayson (21) unlocks a new, and final, set of powers when Johnny Alto (20) nearly kills Dick Grayson (22). She later gives birth to Caroline and Conner Grayson.

Titans Tower was a place that had a lot of usual features. Things that no other home would ever need. 

The large serenity garden in the center of the house that never seemed to bring anyone serenity. (It was likely just there because the Tower had been built for people who were city-dwelling chronic night owls, the type of people who never saw plants in their natural habitats, and needed a simulated one in the middle of their million dollar condo.) The large, state of the art training facility. The medical bay, stocked with all kinds of equipment and medication - including a freezer filled with spare blood, in all of the original Titans blood types. Which is something that would be insanely creepy to any outsiders. 

And among the more peculiar security measures: none of the internal doors in the house had locks on them. All the bathroom doors, all the bedroom doors, the doors to the training room - none of them locked. 

To a certain extent, Donna understood why. 

The place had been designed by the most paranoid man on the planet - at least, that’s what Diana often called Bruce, and Donna had to believe it wasn’t an exaggeration, because Diana didn’t really believe in hyperbole. There were cameras in every single room, endless security protocols to breach the Tower from the outside - most of which Donna likely didn’t even know about. The place had been designed around its own unique, state of the art surveillance system. 

So, there being no locks on any of the bathroom doors or bedroom doors was just another… quirk. Something implemented for security purposes without ever considering how inconvenient it would be for a person to actually live with. 

It was something implemented with the idea that locks put barriers between the members of a team, and those barriers can create secrets. Secrets cause friction. A team should be one solid unit. That, and it can be dangerous, taking away precious life saving seconds if someone is locked in their bedroom while sick or injured and a door needs to be smashed up in order to get to them. 

At least, that’s what Bruce had in mind when designing the place. 

Back when all the original Titans had moved into the Tower, knocking became the most easily upheld rule in the household. No matter how much they argued over who did the dishes or complained about certain people making noises at ‘impolite’ hours - above all, it was a sacred practice not to barge past a closed door without asking first. 

And as Hank taught them, whenever someone wanted privacy in their room, as a kind of ‘do not disturb’ sign: a sock was to be wrapped around the doorknob as a universal signal that the person inside did not want to be bothered. It was a good old fashioned standby that he had learned while living in a frat house that had shitty, broken bedroom doors with locks that often failed. You heard Jason muffle laughter behind you. "Hi Jase, let's dance"

Just as you pulled him away a slow song started, looking back you saw Roy wipe a fake tear mouthing something like "they grow up so fast" to Aleksander who was fake crying and holding onto Roy.

Jason let out a huff of amusement when Roy pulled your boyfriend to dance. "Where’ve you been?”

You looked up into his eyes and smiled, “Y’know saving the world, stopping magical entities who want to destroy the universe”

“Oh so the usual?” you hummed, “but that’s not why I wanted to dance with you”

“Oh?”

“Jase, is your brother mad at me or something?”

Jason tilted his head to the side like a puppy, “Dickhead?” you felt bad for asking because Jason really looked like he was thinking hard about why his brother would be mad at you. 

He spun you around and once he pulled you back in he muttered, ”I think I might know why big birds mad”

You looked at him with a curious glint in your eyes, “you can’t tell him I told you”

“I promise”

"Aleks he likes me?"

Your boyfriend sighed, "Why do you make it sound like it'd be hard to be in love with you?"

"I— wait what?" you watched as a grin spread across his features. "What?"

"Baby" you whined as he shook his head, "nuh uh, what were you saying before?"

"I love you— wait no that wasn't it" you groaned, "I can't remember—"

"I love you too but we were talking about your friend" he lent back onto the wall pulling out a cigarette and a light —smoking was a habit he picked up from John Constantine, he raised you and he was the man who trained your boyfriend.

"Jase said that he likes me in that way and that's why doesn't like you"

"mhm" he nodded blowing out smoke from between his lips, "I know"

"You knew?!"

"baby, I see the way everyone looks at you" he tugged at your hand, "have to scout for possible competition y'know" his accent was thicker the lower he talked.

When Aleksander heard the door slam open he pulled you into him, dropping the cigarette onto the floor, summoning a few of his guard dogs.

"What the hell is wrong with you?!" came Dick Grayson's angry voice, when one of the silver dogs leaped at him obviously sensing its master's distaste for the man in front of them.

"Well, when someone slams open a door it's usually never good" you were hidden from view and you hadn't made your presence known.

You heard Dick mutter, "you bitch, I don't understand why she's with you."

Aleksander let out a mocking laugh, "because she loves me?"

"I doubt anyone could love you"

Aleksander raised a brow, "what do you think love? Can anyone love me?"

Dick's head snapped up to see you protectively held in the other man's embrace and glared at the hand around your waste but his eyes softened when he met your disbelieving gaze.

"Why would you— how could you say something like that?"

"Y/n" when he moved forwards you scrunched your nose in distaste at the strong smell of alcohol, he noticed and stopped moving.

"N/n..." the two of you somehow always managed to read each other's minds.

"what do you want me to do Dick— I can't leave him"

"not even for me?"

You looked away, thinking back to when you first met him.

"Come on! why isn't it working?!" You watched silently from across the room —behind John Constantine— as Dick slammed his fists onto the desk.

"S'alright kid" you looked at John, "don't call me kid"

"Alright then sunshine" you gave him a look and he snorted, "pumpkin patch" he grinned when he saw you facepalm. John didn't understand why he took care of you, he didn't have he knew that but he did regardless. Maybe because deep inside no matter how hard he fought it he was scared that you'd turn out like him.

He knew he saw his reflection in your eyes, he saw the boy he was. Rash, unpredictable, a bit arrogant... scared of not being enough.

You couldn't remember why you were in the batcave that day but you were happy to be there and you made a friend.

You looked at Aleksander who was waiting for you, hand outstretched. It reminded you of when the two of you had first met.

"Hey! Get away from her!" you didn't see much when a bright purple light came out of nowhere.

You were confused, you'd seen magic like this before but not in this form. "Are you alright?" you found yourself face to face with a boy, overgrown sandy hair falling into his eyes, hazel eyes that you'd swear was glowing. He was around the same age as you 15 or 16.

"you're pretty" the words came out of your mouth before you realised you were thinking them. you watched a pink slowly dusted his face and he grinned, "you're prettier"

He pulled you up, steadying you and then let go. "I'm Aleksander"

"Y/n!" you whipped around and was brought into warm arms, "fuck, pumpkin patch I thought you were hurt"

"Sorry Johnny" if anyone the two of you knew were to see this they'd think they were on drugs, mostly because everyone knew John as an arrogant prick who only did things for his own benefit.

You didn't protest when he brought your face into his hands, inspecting for injuries. Instead you scanned his face for any cuts or bruises you could heal for him. You lifted you hand up reaching for the faint tint of purple below his eye, once your hands reached his face they were glowing a faint white-yellow.

"Thanks pumpkin patch" he grinned and moved his eyes to the boy behind them, "who are you?" his tone came off rude and harsh.

"Johnny!" you slapped his arm, he rolled his eyes and the boy behind you smiled. "I'm Aleks"

"Did you do that?" John asked, motioning to the dead demon that was slowly disintegrating. Aleksander nodded and watched as John whispered something in your ear that seemed to make your face light up.

John walked away to smoke, muttering "stupid kid, making me soft." You explained to Aleksander that John offered to take him in and teach him how to control his magic. If the boy had to admit the older man made him nervous but your company made him feel a little more at home. When John came back he looked at you expecting an answer but instead you shrugged as he opened a portal and walked through.

You moved towards the portal and held out your hand towards Aleksander.

Back in the present time you sighed, "he's very dear to me"

"dearer than I?"

Just as Aleksander took your hand that day, you took his today. "I'm sorry Dick" And in a flash of white light you both were gone.

Leaving the man in silence and quiet, he scoffed bottle in hand, he walked away.

May is quickly shaping up to be one of the biggest months for new comic book releases in a long time. Marvel alone is going all-out this month, kicking off the massive Blood Hunt crossover and celebrating the milestone 50th issue of The Amazing Spider-Man with the return of Spidey's greatest nemesis. Elsewhere, DC has big stories planned for two of Batman's most important sidekicks, while Image is launching several promising new projects like The Whisper Queen and Grommets.

Blood Hunt

Creative Team: Jed MacKay & Pepe Larraz

Release Date: May 1

As is tradition for Marvel, the first week of May brings with it the start of a major summer crossover event. Blood Hunt pits the Avengers and other assorted heroes against a resurgent vampire nation. For the first time, the many vampire tribes of the Marvel Universe are united under a common cause, and that's bad news for the human world. Expect some major heroes to be turned to the undead as this massive war unfolds.

Blood Hunt will unfold in the pages of the core miniseries by Jed MacKay and Pepe Larraz, but expect a lot of tie-ins to accompany that book. Most of Marvel's Avengers and Spider-Man-adjacent books will tie into the event, and several new limited series will also launch aside the main book.

Get Fury #1

Creative Team: Garth Ennis & Jacen Burrows

Publisher: Marvel

Release Date: May 1

Garth Ennis doesn't often write for the Big Two publishers, but we're always excited when he does. That's especially true whenever Ennis delves into the grim and gritty world of Marvel's MAX imprint. Get Fury brings together Nick Fury and Frank Castle, arguably the two characters on which Ennis has left his greatest mark. In this Vietnam War-era story, Fury is captured by the enemy, leaving the military to dispatch Frank to bring him back by any means necessary. We're getting strong Apocalypse Now vibes from this book, which can only be a good thing.

The Whisper Queen #1

Creative Team: Chip Zdarsky & Kris Anka

Release Date: May 1

It's hard to go wrong with a creative pairing like writer Chip Zdarsky and artist Kris Anka, and we're big fans of their work on The White Trees. At long last, the two are reuniting for a new story set in the Blacksand fantasy universe. In The Whisper Queen, a former assassin named Javro must hunt down the king's killers before her son is murdered by a ghostly threat known as the Dark Whisper.

The Boy Wonder #1

Creative Team: Juni Ba

Publisher: DC

Release Date: May 7

DC's newest Black Label series comes from Monkey Meat creator Juni Ba. The Boy Wonder aims to present a fresh spin on the origin of Batman's son, Damian Wayne, and his rise as Robin. In this limited series, Damian is forced to confront the realization that he isn't Batman's first Robin and embrace the idea that he's part of a legacy bigger than himself. It sounds like a great primer for the character, and a worthwhile read for anyone who simply craves more of Damian's crimefighting adventures.

Doom #1

Creative Team: Sanford Greene & Jonathan Hickman

Publisher: Marvel

Release Date: May 15

Jonathan Hickman's latest Marvel epic is quite the deviation from books House of X and G.O.D.S. In Doom #1, Hickman teams with Bitter Root's Sanford Greene for a very different take on the Fantastic Four's most iconic foe. This oversizedone-shot is set in the future, as Doom takes it upon himself to defend Earth from a ravenous Galactus. Can his mighty ego stand up to one of the most powerful forces in the Marvel Universe? We're about to find out.

Nightwing #114

Creative Team: Tom Taylor & Bruno Redondo

Publisher: DC

Release Date: May 21

DC just celebrated the 300th issue of Nightwing, and now they're speeding straight ahead into one of the most important chapters of Dick Grayson's costumed career. This issue kicks off "Fallen Grayson," a story arc that explores what happens when Dick loses his ability to leap. Can he still be Nightwing when his city needs him the most? This is the climax of Tom Taylor and Bruno Redondo's excellent run, so it's definitely a bittersweet moment for fans of what has easily been one of the best superhero comics on the stands.

The Amazing Spider-Man #50

Creative Team: Zeb Wells, Marv Wolfman, Nikesh Shukla & Various Artists

Publisher: Marvel

Release Date: May 22

Thecurrent volume of The Amazing Spider-Man reaches the all-important issue #50 mark this month, and it's shaping up to be a big one. This oversized issue features several new stories, including new material from guest creators like Marv Wolfman and Terry Dodson.

But the real news is that ASM #50 features the return of the Green Goblin. For years now, Norman Osborn has tried to prove that he's reformed and can be a crucial ally to Peter Parker rather than his worst nightmare. That all seems to be at an end, as Osborn becomes consumed by his sins once again. But is this simply a return to the status quo for Osborn, or do Zeb Wells and Ed McGuinness have another big twist in store? Hopefully we'll find out in issue #50.

Blood Squad Seven #1

Creative Team: Joe Casey & Paul Fry

Release Date: May 22

Superhero deconstruction stories are nothing new in comics, but it's not often that we see them directed at the bombastic, gritty heroes of the '90s comic book explosion. That's what Joe Casey and Paul Fry aim to do with Blood Squad Seven. This new series focuses on a team of former superhero celebrities who flamed out after the '90s, leaving a new generation to try and take up the mantle in 2024. We're expecting a book that both pays loving tribute to the '90s and skewers the more over-the-top aspects of the era, and it should be loads of fun.

Grommets #1

Creative Team: Rick Remender, Brian Posehn & Brett Parson

Publisher: Image

Release Date: May 29

We're immediately on board for any new project from Rick Remender, but this one looks especially intriguing. Grommets pairs Remender with comedian Brian Posehn and Tank Girl artist Brett Parson for a limited series steeped in 1980's skateboard culture and punk rock. The series is both a throwback to that bygone era and a timeless story of two Gen-X outcasts who find a new home in this scene.

Fall of the House of X Finale

Creative Team: Various

Publisher: Marvel

Release Date: Various

We all knew the X-Men's Krakoan Age had to come to an end sooner or later, and that finale is now close at hand. May marks the end of both Fall of the House of X and Rise of the Powers of X, capping off a journey that began way back in 2019's House of X and Powers of X. Will the X-Men finally triumph over Orchis? What sort of future will there be for mutantkind when all is said and done?

May also marks the end of both the current volume of Wolverine and the Immortal X-Men epilogue X-Men Forever. We'll see Logan leap into his latest and bloodiest battle with Sabretooth in Wolverine #50, while X-Men Forever #4 promises to close out with even more startling revelations about Krakoa and its survivors. All of this paves the way for Marvel's X-Men: From the Ashes relaunch in July.

I'm trying to keep these fics under 1.5k but like...listen...we'll see...

The basic premise of this is that the time has come for older heroes to step down and the next generation take their place. Clark Kent is now the editor and owner of the Daily Planet and vows to lead them into the future while keeping their dedication to the truth. Diana Prince is now Queen of the Amazons and has relinquished her title as Wonder Woman though she still joins the Justice Society when needed. Bruce Wayne has become mayor of Gotham City and intends to use the power of the office to fight crime at the root. However the intensified spotlight means he must give up the cowl. Madison walked into the elevator that she used to go through everyday. She hadn’t been there in, what? 5 years now? Had to have been since she was 24 when she left. She didn’t understand why she was even there. What, because Bruce said that Dick was going to bring around those kids and Jason, to what? To create a new Titans? Was that it? What, so she could see Dick fail? Of course she would love to see that. After all, he was the reason she had to go through everything she did. Or maybe it was to make sure he didn’t have those kids deal with what she did.

She sighed as the elevator doors opened to level 32. She walked inside the apartment and took a deep breath in. 4 years had passed since she left here. Since she realized that what they had been doing was wrong. That being a Titan really wasn’t for her. 4 years since her life turned upside down and she nearly lost it.

She pulled her suitcase down the halls and to the room that was once hers. She silently pushed the door open and wasn’t surprised to see that it was covered in sheets since most of what she had seen was. The room barely was used since she and Dick had been together, only when they had large fights.

She pulled the sheets off of the bed, dressers, vanity, desk, and bookshelf. Once the sheet was off the bookshelf, she lifted the picture frame from one of the shelves and looked at it. It was the one of them all on Garth’s birthday. Really the last time they were all together since Garth died a few days later. She remembered how Dawn wasn’t gonna be in the picture, but she didn’t want that so she made Dawn put a timer on so they could all be in the picture.

She hadn’t realized that she was crying until she heard a knock on the door and instinctively went to wipe away the tears. As she turned, she wasn’t too shocked to see Dick standing in the doorway. “Bruce told me you would be here.”

“Y-yeah. He uh,” She ran a hand through her hair, “He knew what you were planning on doing since you called and told me.”

“Why’d you go to Wayne Manor?”

She sniffed, “I uh, I wanted to return the card that you gave me to him. I had paid my bills and everything, so I didn’t need it anymore.”

He nodded, “So that’s why I got it back.” He stuck his hands in his pockets, “Are you okay?”

She shrugged, “This place it just...it brings back so many memories. Both good and bad.”

He gave a dry laugh, “I can agree to that one.” He looked down and gave a soft smile before walking over to her and took the picture out of her hand. “I remember this.” He looked at her, “You got so mad at Dawn for not wanting to be in the photo since she never was that you made her place the timer on it so she could jump in.”

She nodded, “Yeah, it was also the last time we were all happy.”

He reached his arm behind her and placed the photo back on the bookshelf. She felt his hand fall to her arm and him softly caressing it. “I wish we knew what was about to happen.”

“Maybe if we did we would have stopped it.”

He nodded, “Maybe.”

She looked into his eyes, “Do you wish that things had gone differently?”

He tilted his head to the side slightly, “Sometimes.” She felt his other hand come to the ends of her hair as he played with them. “But other times I’m happy it didn’t.”

“Why?”

“Because then you wouldn’t have gotten out.”

She shook her head softly, “I was already going to leave Dick.”

“Yeah, but you would have returned quicker. You were only leaving for what we were doing to the kid.”

She grabbed his hand from her hair and took it in hers. “That’s not true. I would have left when we got married. That’s what I was waiting for. Us to get married. I was gonna focus on my career. Use the lame excuse that one of us needed to be safe.”

He looked down at their hands, “And being a lawyer is safer than a hero?”

“We weren’t heroes Dick. We were kids wanting to be heroes. Nothing more and nothing less. I just didn’t see it back then.”

He looked at her again, “Then why did you return?”

“Because you can’t do this alone Dick.” She took her hand out of his and moved it to his face. “That’s why.” It was while they had been talking that she realized why she told Bruce she would help. “You made the Titans in the first place with Donna and I. You never did this alone. And I know you never could.”

He smiled softly, “I guess you’re right.”

She smiled back, “Aren’t I always?”

“Yeah.”

She had no clue how long they stood like that. One of her hands caressing his face as one of his hands caressed her arm. But she knew it wasn’t long until he leaned down to kiss her. And unlike what she had told herself she would do, she didn’t pull away. She did the opposite and leaned into him.

Neither choosing to pull away until they heard Jason speak. “No fucking way.”

The two rolled their eyes at the kid as they heard him yell all down the hall. Informing everyone that one she was there and that he just caught her and Dick kissing.
